Evaluation of non-stress test as predictor of perinatal outcome in high risk and low risk pregnancy: a prospective study

Background: NST is simple, cheap, non-harmful, easily repeated, and cost effective with low maintenance profile. a very method to investigating the intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), late pregnancy, premature birth, multiple Rh sensitivity, diabetes, liver disease, decreased bowel movements, oligohydramnios etc. Objectives were evaluate efficacy role of antenatal in improving perinatal outcome high-risk pregnancies. Methods: This prospective study was done among 100 pregnant women (group A: high risk n=50, group B: n=50). Nonstress test for 20 minutes if inconclusive or nonreactive. It continued another extended CTG. Fetal stimulation also done. The before onset labour used as reference. Interpretation tracings according ACOG guideline. Results: Around 58% participants 82% low-risk had ‘reactive’ respectively. Almost 36% 16% delivered baby by LSCS method. 24% 10% meconium-stained amniotic fluid. 66% babies admitted NICU. mean birth weight 2.52 kg 2.85 kg. Conclusions: Present reveals significant difference between reactive nonreactive terms Apgar scores NICU admissions both groups. Hence judicious use will certainly help timely identification at-risk fetuses thereby avoiding unnecessary delay intervention.
